BE GREEN Checking

As part of our new GREEN initiative, Shell Federal Credit Union has a new checking account. It's called our BE GREEN Checking and if you meet the 4 free and easy qualifications each month, you can earn a higher rate and receive refunds on ATM fees Nationwide!

These features are FREE to members and it's easy to switch to BE GREEN Checking. In fact, we can help you in this process. Although you must have internet access, you don't necessarily have to own a computer. There are free email accounts you can set up - such as Yahoo.com and others.

Once you meet the qualifications, BE GREEN and EARN a Higher Yield as stated in Current Rates) on balance up to $20,000; On balance over $20,000 you receive 0.50% APY*. (*annual percentage yield). Premium dividend is paid even on smaller balances.

What happens if the qualifications are not satisfied during a cycle?

You will earn 0.25% APY on your free checking balance.
ATM fees are not reimbursed.

*APY=Annual Percentage Yield. Be Green yield 5.13% APY paid on balances between one penny and $20,000, and 0.50% APY paid on all amounts above $20,000 each cycle the minimum qualifications are met. If you do not meet the qualifications per cycle, your account will still function as a free checking account earning base yield 0.25% APY; however, it will not receive ATM fee refunds for that time period. Rates as of August 1, 2008. We may change the dividend rate and APY at any time after the account is opened. No minimum balance required. Minimum deposit to open account is $25.00. Available to personal accounts only. No monthly service charge. **ATM refunds when qualifications are met.

Requirements for Opening any Shell FCU Checking Account
Checking account requires a $25 deposit to open. Member must be at least 15 years old or if under age 18, must have a parent or guardian as co-owner on the account.
